Canoeing, Drifting & Rafting...

The range and diversity of paddling adventures available in the West Chilcotin are too numerous to mention, so we are pointing you to our favourites. We know these stillwaters and streams will soon become favourites of yours. Check 'em out...

Turner Lake Chain...

Turner Lake Chain... a 3 to 5 day canoeing destination for beginner-to-intermediate paddlers that is both unusual and very scenic. On the east slope of the Coast Range, 7 high elevation lakes are connected by a navigable stream with a few portages. A great place to paddle, there are also hiking trails around the lakes and in the nearby alpine, plus fly fishing for cutthroat trout. Check out Tweedsmuir Wilderness Camp and the Provincial Park web site for more... the 'Chain' is one of those 'must do' paddles!

Blackwater River...

Blackwater River... retrace sections of the Grease Trail where Alexander Mackenzie, a famous explorer, dipped his paddle in search of the Northwest Passage - it's your chance to relive some of BC's important history! Tweedsmuir Air can fly you out and put you on the water at several different locations, then pick you up where you want to pull out. There's plenty of opportunity during your 'drift through time' to wet a line for the Blackwater River's feisty wild rainbows.

Dean River...

Dean River... another classic West Chilcotin river to drift by canoe or raft. Follow a meandering course down the willow-bound upper reaches... enjoy a quiet float over placid glides, then pick up your pace through the riffles and white water. When you feel the call, break for a shore lunch to munch and stretch... there are numerous oxbows to explore during the drift downstream. And, who knows, you may return to explore the Dean at another time for a different purpose... world-class steelhead!

Three of many destinations in our region for a paddling adventure that you will remember for many years to come... soft and slow, or white and fast, there's something here for everyone.

Dip, stroke, dip, stroke... dip your paddle in the West Chilcotin!
